Anjelica's Boudoir now has quality balloons
for all occasion! We carry both latex and Mylar (foil) balloons
in various styles to help you decorate for special events.
Check back regularly to see what's new. Many of the balloons
and party items we have available are not published on our
website. Please call for special or theme orders.
We're sorry but we are unable to ship helium
inflated balloons. Changing temperatures and altitudes during
shipping can severely damage helium inflated balloons. However,
you can rent or buy a helium tank locally or get your local
florist or party store to inflate balloons for a nominal charge.
APPROXIMATE FLOAT TIME FOR MYLAR (FOIL) AND
LATEX BALLOONS:
18" Foil Balloons
3 - 4 weeks float time. Uses approximately .50 cubic feet
of helium per balloon.
26" Foil Balloons
3 - 4 weeks float time. Uses approximately .72 cubic feet
of helium per balloon.
36" Foil Balloons
Several months float time. Uses approximately 4.00 cubic feet
of helium per balloon.
Latex Balloons (All sizes)
Less than 24 hours float time. The smaller the balloon, the
shorter the float time.
Balloons ordered from our Pre-inflated Balloons
page are filled with air, sealed and include an attached stick.
They are intended for placement in containers or for attachment
to stationary items. They will not float like helium filled
balloons and are therefore perfect adornments for gift bags,
potted plants, etc.
BALLOON TRIVIA:
Balloons, in one form or another, have been
around for centuries. But, the modern latex balloon was invented
in New England during the Great Depression.
Neil Tillotson, a chemical engineer, was attempting
to make inner tubes from liquid latex. One day, after many
experiments had failed, he jokingly cut the silhouette of
a cat's head from a piece of cardboard and dipped it in the
latex. When it dried, Mr. Tillotson filled the form with air
and had the first latex “cat balloon,” complete
with ears. Delighted with his invention, he made about 2,000
balloons and sold them on the streets during Boston’s
annual Patriot's Day parade.
In the late 1970s, silver metallized balloons
were developed for the New York City Ballet. These balloons
are commonly called mylar and are actually made from metallized
nylon.
BALLOON FACTS:
We are committed to the protection of the
environment and encourage everyone to become familiar with
the facts and guidelines below.
Latex balloons are biodegradable.
Latex balloons are made of 100% natural latex.
Latex balloons should not be released with ribbon or any other
attachments.
A foil balloon should never be released outdoors.
When decorating with helium-filled foil balloons and standard
balloon weights, it is best to weight each balloon down separately
and then tie the group together.
Never tie metallic ribbon to a helium-filled foil balloon.
Call the power company if balloons are entangled in power
lines.
Properly dispose of foil balloons by cutting to release air
or helium before placing them in the trash.
REMEMBER-All balloons should be weighted-ALWAYS!
